What we did

Arm is building the future of computing. Through their unique combination of performance and efficiency, they are creating an AI-accelerated world where technology empowers everyone.

The brief

This project was a combination of traditional filming, projection mapping, generative AI, and VFX production workflows. Working with VML (Agency) and creative production studio Park Village, nymbl delivered the CGI and VFX for this film, which included pipeline management for post, tracking, compositing, VFX and cleanup where needed.

Our approach

To ensure a smooth on-set experience, we pre-visualised the space and end frame. We built a 3D scene based on the studio's dimensions (a vast 54m x 41m) to plan framing, composition, and scale. This preparation meant the post process was efficient and predictable.

A requirement of this project was to utilise GenAI, unifying the message that Arm is Building the Future of Computing. The graphics inside the hero cubes were created using GenAI, which was then integrated into the VFX.

The challenge

The large size of the studio combined with low lighting on set presented a tracking challenge. The lack of distinct data points made it difficult for our tracking softwares to lock onto the cubes effectively.

To overcome this and to allow for creative freedom, we pivoted our approach by recreating the cubes digitally in post. This allowed us to "project" the 3D content onto the virtual cubes with precision, using a blend of advanced compositing techniques to achieve a photorealistic result that was indistinguishable from a practical projection.

Delivery

The final film has been an incredible success, achieving over 10 million views on YouTube. In addition to the main film, we delivered a comprehensive suite of assets, including stills and video clips, designed for use across Arm's marketing campaigns and event collateral.
