R&A The Open Titles 2022

Overview

Following Nymbl’s work on The Open’s Celebration of Light, we were commissioned to adapt its visual language into a 30-second broadcast title sequence and 5-second sting. Using the existing 3D Claret Jug as the centrepiece, we rebuilt the flowing brand threads specifically for television and web, increasing their density, detail and material treatment for close viewing. Houdini and Maya were used to reconstruct, light and texture the sequence, combining the evolving jug with archive imagery from defining moments in golf history. The result carried the identity of the 150th anniversary from a large-scale projection environment into a more detailed broadcast format.
